Good news is that the famous and exclusive limited “Sakura doll,” and the two exhibit art-books, will still be available for those who missed it.
I thought last year’s goods were many already. Well, this year, they’ve decided to added more ‘new’ goods to choose from. But don’t worry, many old goods from last year exhibit seem to be available for purchase still. However, I suspect that these aren’t all of it. These goods are making Sailor Moon merchandise announcement for USJ (Universal Studios Japan) bleak.
However, I would say that the new visual for the new exhibit is not too exciting. The colors are very “clamp-like,.” We have the acidic green and the mushy yellow, which to be honest, I am not a fan, but its very comic-like and 90s. I guess the reasoning for this style is to welcome the “summer time” and that dress reminds me of the cover art of an old Sakura CD single cover.
Regarding the merchandise, we got new illustration and of course old ones from the manga, which is always exciting. I am glad that Clamp artists never shy away from making new art in comparison to *cough* Bandai/Naoko when it comes in making new art. They’ve plastered the “new,” art that were featured in the new chapters of the Clear Card arc and the exhibit visual, into the new merchandise.

SAMANTHA THAVASA COLLABORATION GOODS:
So, the biggest question here is, Am i buying anything? To be honest, with the Sailor Moon x Qpot, Sailor Moon Birthday and USJ coming up, I have to say… I have to pass and say nope, I am not interested in a single thing for now. The visual is cute but there isn’t anything I really want. So, maybe I will just print out the the “visual” photo which I posted on this blog.
Last note: regarding the exhibit, its mostly the same as last year’s exhibit except some changes which will be revealed once its opened to the public. I’ll update this article once the exhibit opens.
Tokyo Exhibit, last year: , for a more detailed information, Fashion Press Japan, released an article detailing the event but its all in Japanese, but they have photos.
UPDATE: 6/10/2019, So yeah, the exhibit finally opened on June 8th in Osaka, and here is my update. I was right, it has the same content similar to Tokyo, with some improvements and changes aside from the additional goods, they’ve also added some “exhibit attractions.” The following additions are just minor like they’ve added a Kero-chan ball photo oppurtunity. I am not really sure what to call this to be honest. It doesn’t look too deep to be played with for kids. Also, they’ve added an additional photo prop for the big Kero-chan display, a “takoyaki,” for the visitor to hold on.
That’s the biggest takoyaki, I’ve ever seen in my life, which is fitting in Osaka, where Takoyaki is the main thing.
I’ve been looking at Instagram and Twitter, and it seems like the exhibit is just not as exciting but its the goods that people went after for especially most of the items are limited. Many went home with many goods. I am just glad that I got already what I’ve wanted from this exhibit from last year. I got the Sakura Plush and the Exhibit Book, so I am safe.
Here is an old photo and review of the two items that I got (the Sakura plush and the Exhibit Book):
EXHIBIT ARTBOOK:
I believe, that the freebie for each visitors still the same “Clear cards.”
Early: June 8 – July 31, 2019 (“Thanks”)
Late: August 1- September 15 , 2019 (“Happiness”)
I’ll continue to update this blog, I believe they will add more because the exhibit will be on going until September 15.
Thank you for reading.
